Crysis Warhead - announced then confirmed as standalone

Now that Electronic Arts has given the green light to press ahead with the next instalment of the planned trilogy, this announcement, following the website registration everyone saw in March, arrived in the morning.

However, Crysis Warhead was only confirmed as standalone later in the afternoon, confirming that it's the community that will have to patch up Crysis if it wants satisfactory multiplayer games up to Warhead's release next year in Q4.

If Crytek's vocal complaints about piracy are genuine, we refuse to believe that EA will let it happen again if the system requirements remain high. We predict that console versions for either the first game or this new one, will quietly added to EA's roster before the end of the year, even if it means that the coding will be adjusted downwards/refined for the graphics chips inside the 360 and PS3.

Being fair, the installed base of dual and quad core PCs will have grown by January 2009 so we're hoping that Crysis Warhead will be playable by more gamers immediately.
