Grand Theft Auto IV - Drive away with it now if you're a pirate
Friday 25th of April, 2008 - 23:03:34 GMT
Maybe gamers have been driven mad at the anticipation by LCD Soundsystem's "Get Innocuous" on the promotional adverts. Whether for fandom or profit, Grand Theft Auto IV was pirated within the last 24 hours for both the PAL and NTSC versions, according to The Inquirer.
The print media has also joined in on the party. The Daily Star newspaper in the UK, in a rare day off from condemnation of games in general, took our estimates of 3 million sales, and doubled them to 6 million copies across both formats for the total pre-order projection. The newspaper also estimated that the British tally alone would reach more than GBP 210 million and repeat the American recession-proof sales spike to videogames. Retailers are certainly rubbing their hands at the prospect of the bundle sales, particularly to the 360 which is on average, up to £80 cheaper than the PS3's themed console set.
Whilst we condemn piracy, if anyone took that 360 rip and made it playable on PC through emulation, that would do more to prove a point to Take Two than merely cracking it for the sake of it. Still, the long wait will commence as of next week, so be back here in 2009 to enjoy the game on your Windows Desktop.
